I am... three, maybe four degrees of separation from saunteringdown, artist of Friendly Hostility, which apparently started off as a story about the Maharassa family (...a webcomic with a well-written primarily nonwhite cast? IS THIS LEGAL AND CAN I MARRY IT?), and then got sucked into the usual Huge Lovecraftian Demons of Doom Arc thing that lots of webcomics get into (see Sluggy Freelance, and to some extent, Megatokyo), incorporating characters from the old Boy Meets Boy comic (maybe it was the previous project?), and eventually featuring Nyarlathotep in the comic on a semi-regular basis and in the default icon of saunteringdown. The hypnotizing one that I'm staring at and makes Mack make cracks about Sadu-Hem.

Unfortunately, the degrees of separation are like this:

Me -> Darling Crow Girl -> Metaphorical Phoenix Girl -> Late Stranger -> saunteringdown.

So.

There is also the fact that Late Stranger seems to have been a fascinating person, the kind I would have liked to have gotten to know, or at least, read every now and then.

I've also been digging through old email, as far back as June of 2000, and... um. Wow, ippeas. Some of this is disgusting. And you say the chats were worse?

Mail from whom? Heh, several of us have gone 'urp' looking at Azusa's old mail from her "fan" mailing lists, of the OMG SQUEEEE CUTE BISHIES OMG LET'S KILL ALL THE GIRLS AND PAIR THEM UP variety. Actually, Azu goes 'urp' looking at them nowadays too.

I'd rather not say directly. Just someone with a... blood and scar fetish, apparently, that I somehow missed completely! There's no single huge example I can give, unfortunately, just a lot of examples of how apparently ippeas could never come up in conversation without an exclamation of how blood is sexy. Or something. And apparently "no" means "I'm repressed and need to be seduced out of it" and shrieking in caps means "I love you". ...and I don't know what's with the garters.

I'm running into this stuff because I'm importing old mbox files from the long defunct Dardan mail server because I keep running into them while looking for a particular ICQ log both thebkcam and ippeas have mentioned, which apparently involved badgering ippeas into IM stripping, and birthed the nickname of "Fufu" (which was deemed a good stripper name for him, I gather).

...thanks for bringing up that humiliating moment. The log is still on the C: drive of FAYE, and I intentionally never backed it up as I'm not particularly proud of that log. Or any logs which happened to cross my line of comfort and then continue burrowing until the topic was changed.

I don't know what's with the garters.

...I avoided asking for details on that one. Especially since 1) I actually think most garters and armbands look like fancy tourniquets with lace trimming, and 2) I... don't want to contemplate how she would have "discovered" something like that.
